Exact for Manufacturing Ease of Use: Costing of the indented bill of materials
On the bill-of-materials version we find a breakdown of the manufacturing cost into material, inside routing and outside routing (subcontracted work). However, when the material includes subassemblies, routing costs to manufacture those subassemblies have been absorbed into the item cost. An upcoming enhancement to the intended bill of materials overview provides insight into the real breakdown of manufacturing cost for items with a multi-level bill of materials.
Cost breakdown on a single level In January of this year we released the ability to break down the cost price on a single level: Exact for Manufacturing Ease of Use: Cost Breakdown in the BOM. For example, we can view the cost breakdown of a “Floor connector” into 80% material cost and 20% inside routing cost: (Click to enlarge) This cost breakdown on a single level does not provide clarity into the effort (inside routing, outside routing) that went into manufacturing the next-level components: (Click to enlarge) Introducing costing in the indented bill of materials The Indented bill of materials overview ([Manufacturing] Planning, Indented bill of materials) has been enhanced with columns to show how the cost price of a multi-leveled product breaks down into material, inside routing and outside routing: (Click to enlarge) This enhancement will be released in all countries for the Advanced and Premium versions of Exact for Manufacturing soon.
