Alexander Rahusen, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Exact, on achieving financial targets
As CFO, Alexander Rahusen heads Exact's financial organisation. He spoke with Niels De Boysere, from the Belgian CFO Magazine, about the ways in which his department has transformed itself in recent years. Alexander explained how standardisation and automation have helped them grow along with the organisation and talked about his team's role in allowing Exact to do business responsibly.
Growing along with the company
We are working hard every day to make it easier for small and medium-sized companies and their accountants to manage their administrative processes properly. To allow these processes to grow along with a company as it develops, we focus on simplifying finance. For a company to achieve its financial targets, it is essential for it to maintain a good overview and always stay in control. Through standardisation, harmonisation and automation, we aim to accommodate growth within a company's existing organisation. We have succeeded in this very well in recent years. To be able to continue to guarantee this scalability, our department has made extensive investments over the years.
Automation for higher-quality data
In the past year, we have automated our own environment as much as possible. An immediate positive effect of these efforts is that we now have access to much more extensive – and higher-quality – data. This is a wonderful thing, as it allows us to conduct discussions at our company at a higher level. With access to the right data, we can work much more efficiently and make better investments.
Driving responsible business
Our finance department's focus is unlikely to change any time soon. In essence, we must continue to invest in ensuring data integrity for all possible purposes within our company. We will be investing in our usual finance-related activities as well, of course. On top of that, we must also stay open to new things such as our Responsible Business Programme and developments regarding sustainability and our role in society. Externally, we will be reflecting on Exact's role as a partner in such matters. As a software company, it would be nice to be able to help other organisations in this regard, so that we can make a difference together.
