Florien de Nijs, CHRO at Exact, about the role of HR within Exact and today's biggest challenges
Florien de Nijs, CHRO at Exact, about the role of HR within Exact and today's biggest challenges Florien de Nijs, Chief HR Officer of Exact, was recently interviewed by XpertHR, the knowledge partner you can turn to for any HR question. In the interview with journalist Jeroen Mascini, Florien talks about the role of HR at Exact, diversity and inclusion and the biggest HR challenges, among other things.
Our motto: do it together
"At Exact, HR is equal to business," Florien explains. "Something typical for HR at Exact is that we try to 'not be one of them'. For example, the topic of diversity is not only a theme for our HR department, but for the entire organisation. The tendency is often: if you own something, someone else doesn't. Our motto: do it together."
Being the best version of yourself, but an off day is okay
"Also, diversity and inclusion is not an HR thing, together we are responsible for this. For me, the main thing about diversity is that you can be the best version of yourself. Of course, you don’t have to be the best version of yourself 24/7. Everyone has the occasional off-day and that's okay." In addition, diversity is about male-female relations, about being open to people with a distance to the labour market. But it can also be about being extrovert or introvert, coming from a small village or big a city. Florien believes: "Your organisation will only improve through diversity, because if you always sit at the table with the same people and there is little criticism or friction, you won't get anywhere."
The challenge of well-being
One of the biggest HR challenges today, Florien believes, is well-being, especially among young people. "You used to get a burnout at the age of 40, now sometimes as early as 25. The speed of change is incredibly fast. So, the challenge is also to make sure people keep the right balance, but how do you make sure this happens and how do you prevent them from getting over-stimulated? How do you protect them and make them more resilient? To help colleagues with this, one of the things we offer at Exact is a development programme, in which we offer our colleagues unlimited training courses, dialogue sessions and webinars throughout the year."
